MYL Select League All Star Games to be played in honor of Nick Gaspar

Gaspar was a Franklin lacrosse player who passed away from brain cancer in May

June 29, 2023 -- Massachusetts Youth Lacrosse (MYL) announced today that their annual Select League All Star Games would be played in honor of Nick Gaspar, a 16 year old lacrosse player from Franklin who lost his battle with a rare form of brain cancer on May 19.

The All Star Game jerseys for all 16 teams of boys and girls players in 5th-8thn grade will all feature the Nick Strong Foundation logo, a N&G together in North Carolina blue, made due to Nick's love the North Carolina Tarheels.

"We were all saddened in the MYL community to learn of Nick's passing on May 19. His strength, spirit and determination during his battle with cancer was an inspiration to all who knew Nick," said MYL Executive Director Kevin Barney. "We want to honor Nick by having his logo on all of our All-Star jerseys this year. We will pay tribute to Nick during each of the eight All Star Games on August 5 and will have the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation on site collecting donations in honor of Nick."

The MYL Select League All Star Games will be played at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy on Saturday, August 5. There will be eight All Star Games played from 9am to 8:30pm with over 400 boys and girls players from 100 different towns.
